THE MET ROESEN STILL LIFE BACKPACK
This backpack recalls a lush still life in The Met’s American Wing. Severin Roesen's (American, b. Prussia, 1816–1872?) exceptionally large Still Life: Flowers and Fruit (1850–55) depicts over a dozen varieties of fresh flowers and fruit—an extravagant assortment enabled by 19th-century improvements in cultivation and shipping. As such, the inclusion of exotic species, such as the pineapple and the pomegranate, alludes to America's bounty. We’ve reimagined The Met’s painting with Sprayground’s signature checkered background.
